As Principal Designer, we embed ourselves into the Design Team working closely with all parties to influence how risks to health and safety are managed throughout a project.

We work closely with the design team to manage health and safety during the design phase of a construction project, ensuring risks are identified, mitigated and communicated to all parties.
Our role is to ensure a design process which focusses on safety and minimises risks for the construction phase and end users.
The Principal Designer Service
Our delivery for Principal Designer services includes:
Planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating health and safety in the pre-construction stage; ensuring all relevant existing information that might affect the design work is taken into account.
Advising all duty holders of their duties under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, providing any information required to allow them to carry out their duties.
Undertaking a design risk workshop with designers on the project to eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks to anyone affected by the work, and where that is not possible, take steps to reduce or control those risks. This is undertaken by producing a Construction (Design and Management) significant risk register which is kept live throughout the project and reviewed regularly with all duty holders.
Ensuring all parties involved in the pre-construction phase communicates and cooperates, coordinating their work where required.
Delivery of regular Principal Designer reports to the Client as an overview of work undertaken in the period and full communication is provided throughout the project.
Liaising with the principal contractor, ensuring they are aware of any risks that need to be controlled during the construction phase; this will be delivered through effective communication and via the Construction (Design and Management) significant risk register.
Preparing and delivering the health and safety file throughout the project to be delivered at completion.
